Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
1.
Analyse the concept of international investment and the international structures that foster the protection of international investments.
2.
Identify how international conventions, treaties and intergovernmental agreements promote, regulate and restrain international investment.
3.
Evaluate the various ways in which government regulation may affect international investments.
4.
Critically engage with the rules and procedures under various dispute settlement mechanisms, such as ICSID, UNCITRAL utilised to resolve international investment disputes (interstate and investor-state).
5.
Critically evaluate emerging and contemporary policy issues concerning the regulation of international investments.
